The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (NAMCOR) says it is inaccurate that its former Managing Director won an unfair labour case against the company.
This statement follows several media reports related to an arbitration ruling issued on the 6th of June 2025.
The company dismissed the reports as a gross misrepresentation.
NAMCOR states that the issue of former Managing Director Immanuel Mulunga's alleged unfair dismissal has not yet been heard, argued, or adjudicated.
The matter remains entirely unresolved and is still pending before the appropriate forum.
The hearing is scheduled to take place between 8 and 10 September 2025.
The said ruling was addressing a counterclaim brought by NAMCOR alleging a breach of employment contract by Mulunga.
NAMCOR emphasises that any reports suggesting a final decision on this issue are premature and inaccurate.
The company is currently reviewing its legal options concerning this ruling.
Regarding legal fees, the N$6 million figure cited in a local newspaper, according to the statement, reflects cumulative expenses incurred since March 2023.
The Board emphasised that these legal expenses must be considered alongside the company's overall financial losses, lost commercial opportunities, and reputational harm.
