Small-scale farmers from the Kavango East Region who attended a solar water pump infrastructure training describe the experience as informative and eye-opening.
The five-day training was offered by the Directorate of Rural Water Supply within the Ministry of Agriculture.
When the NBC News team visited the Mashare Agricultural Development Institute, we found various small-scale farmers receiving knowledge on solar water pump infrastructure.
This includes fault finding, safety precautions, and routine maintenance, as well as installations, among many other tasks.
For most of them, this was the closest they ever came to learning about solar water pump infrastructure.
The training coordinator, Livingi Livingi, described the small-scale farmers as eager trainees, thirsty for knowledge. He said his department will follow up in about two months to see how they are applying their newfound skills.
