The NAMCOR corruption case was postponed to the 1st of August for the continuation of bail proceedings.

Jennifer Hamukwaya, a former finance executive at NAMCOR, testified at the Windhoek Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Hamukwaya is among the eight accused people seeking to be released on bail.

She denied that Enercon received free fuel from NAMCOR, stating that Enercon made payments in line with the fuel supply agreement.

Hamukwaya also told the court that she was a signatory to a joint bank account between NAMCOR and Enercon.

She said the account was established to ensure that funds received from the Ministry of Defence were used solely for fuel purchases from NAMCOR.

Hamukwaya argued that her arrest, along with that of her husband, Panduleni Hamukwaya, has left their three children without guardians.

She was arrested on 8 July at her workplace, the Namibian Qualifications Authority, where she is employed as a finance manager.

Hamukwaya further stated that her tuck shop, which operates near the International University of Management, has been affected by her detention.

She further denied any involvement in the asset purchase agreement between Namcor and Enercon, saying her role as a signatory to the bank account was supervisory and meant to protect Namcor's interests.
