Finance Minister Ericah Shafudah, accompanied by the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA)'s Commissioner Sam Shivute, paid a visit to the tax authority's office at Oshikango in the Ohangwena Region.

The visit was aimed at encouraging officials to continue serving the nation diligently.

Shafudah commended the officials for their relentless efforts in boosting state revenue collection for the agency to fulfil its mandate.

From facilitating trade to safeguarding Namibia’s borders against illegal importation, she highlighted that that is no simple task.

Shafudah emphasised the importance of teamwork and unity in maintaining excellent service delivery.

The Finance Minister also praised the team for the increased revenue collection at the station.

She reminded NamRA officials that their role is to enforce customs and excise laws in a fair manner, effectively and efficiently at all times, and ensure that taxpayers are complying with the regulations.

NamRA Commissioner Shivute also motivated employees to work smart.

“For us to become a world-class revenue agency, there needs to be consistency and fairness. How one is treated at the Oshikango border must be the same at Katima. I think that leaders who are seniors need to do more education.”
