Online importers who quietly keep the country's digital marketplace running finally had their concerns heard at a stakeholder engagement session held by the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) in Windhoek with "order with me" operators.

Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) held a stakeholder engagement session in Windhoek with the “Order With Me” operators.
 
These operators are small online importers who help customers order goods from outside the country, mainly from countries like China.
  

NamRA launches new K9 Unit

The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) has launched its K9 Unit, consisting of 10 dog handlers and four K9s.

This follows six months of extensive training that cost the agency N$2.5 million with support from the Ministry of Finance.

The Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) handed over chairs, wheelchairs, walking aids, and baby feeding chairs valued at N$37,500 to the Office of the Erongo Governor.

NamRA's Regional Manager, Patrick Tongo, said the goods were confiscated after their owners contravened the Customs and Excise Act.

Minister Ericah Shafuda has denied that the Finance Ministry instructed the Namibia Revenue Agency (NamRA) to investigate its Commissioner, Sam Shivute, over alleged management-related issues within the agency.

Instead, Shafuda says the NamRA board was instructed to investigate the matter.
