Two teenagers charged with possession of counterfeit N$200 notes made a brief appearance in the Keetmanshoop Magistrate’s Court.

One of the suspects, a minor whose name cannot be disclosed, was released into the care of a guardian, while 19-year-old Rayvin Hanse remained in police custody.

Both suspects were not asked to plead, and their case was postponed until 27 October for further police investigation.

The duo was arrested after the minor used a counterfeit note to buy chips at the J.A. Nel Secondary School entrepreneurship day.

Teachers were alerted by learners who were selling the chips after they noticed the money was fake.

When questioned by the police, she revealed that a bag of fake currency worth N$72,200 was kept at their house, which police later recovered and confiscated.
