The Governor of Hardap Region, Riaan McNab, has announced that the recruitment of nurses for the region’s health directorate has been suspended amid allegations of tribalism.

Governor McNab, in a media statement issued today, said the entire interview process has been suspended to allow an investigation into the claims.

The allegations of tribalism, which have circulated widely on social media, raised concerns about fairness in the candidates’ shortlisting process.

McNab assured that if the claims are substantiated and procedures found to have been disregarded, the irregularities will be urgently addressed in line with established processes.

He pledged that fairness and integrity remain central to his work and urged the public to allow the investigation to proceed without prejudice to establish the truth.

The governor emphasised that Namibia is a country where all people, regardless of tribe or ethnicity, enjoy equality.
