Otjiwarongo Councillor Paulus Nekundi has vowed to tackle crime and advocates for the establishment of a police station in the Ombili informal settlement.
The constituency councillor said they are planning to set up a police station in Ombili, and the municipality has already availed land while discussions are on with the police.
"This police station will really help because of the distance from the police station in town, as we know that most of our majority are staying in the informal settlement. Over 30,000 people are living on that side in Ombili, DRC, Telecom and Tsaraxa-aibes; the distance is almost 4 km from the police station to Ombili."
The councillor said plans are also on the cards to procure maternity beds for the Kalkfeld clinic. Currently expectant mothers have to travel to Otjiwarongo Hospital for admission.
