Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has urged office bearers to serve as exemplary leaders in the provision of public services, highlighting the essential importance of hard work and commitment in achieving the government's success.
Speaking during a recent visit to Amutanga Village in the Oshana Region, Ngurare highlighted the importance of embracing change and aligning service output to the government's key services.
Dr. Ngurare said that, ahead of the November elections, those intending to stand as candidates under the banner of the Swapo Party should be ready to give selfless service to the electorate at all times.
He said local authorities and state-owned enterprises are not exempt from the call for excellent service delivery.
"There must be no contradiction in the pace and rhythm of delivery implementation; any unnecessary delay in service delivery is a betrayal of the electorate and a sabotage to their aspirations. I therefore expect administrators, including those in local authorities and those in state-owned enterprises, will work with their political heads seamlessly in achieving the above."
The Prime Minister stated that while some individuals excel in delivering services, others fall short, thereby tarnishing the reputation of the government.
"They must support their ministers for their ministers to carry out the functions that they have been assigned by the president, and there must be no delay; there must be no sabotage. Because if we delay a day or two, a month, or a year, we are betraying the electorate, who have a reason for their right to complain if we are not delivering."
The call for improved performance comes as the government continues to implement initiatives meant to enhance the living conditions of Namibians, coupled with the President's seven identified priority areas.
