The Road Fund Administration (RFA) urges the public to make use of the opportunity to have penalties and debts dating back to 2022 and earlier written off.
The RFA is also calling on the public to approach its office for the writing off of penalties accumulated from 2023 to date and to make payment arrangements.
The Chief Financial Officer of Road Fund Administration, Elvis Kambatuku, made the call during an interview with NBC News.
"We have received so far between 40 and 50 applications. In terms of the first batch of applications that we have received, in the first two or three weeks, there were around 30 applications. The committee has reviewed those applications and made recommendations to the CO, and we are now waiting for the CO and the board to provide their feedback on them. After that, we will communicate with the public."
He further stated that the RFA wants to make sure that "at least every person who has a car and is qualifying to come back on the road brings the car back on the road; they pay their licence, then they also pop it away, we get certain levies, and then we take this money, we put it back on the road in terms of the road maintenance, and then we go for it."
