The impact of climate change on women and youth in Southern Africa will be at the centre of discussions as a parliamentary delegation attends the 58th Plenary Assembly of the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum in Durban from November 30th to December 5th, 2025.
The delegation, led by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, will take part in plenary debates, committee sessions, and thematic workshops aimed at strengthening regional cooperation, legislative action, and parliamentary oversight in climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The Speaker, who also serves on the SADC-PF Executive Committee, participated in preparatory meetings from 26 to 28 November, reviewing reports on regional parliamentary business, political developments and progress in ending child marriage.
Other members of the delegation include IPC’s MP Nelson Kalangula and Swapo MPs Paula Kooper and John Likando.
The Assembly follows the 57th plenary session held in Luanda, Angola, in June 2025, as part of ongoing SADC efforts to promote sustainable development and social protection for communities affected by climate change.
