The reelected councillor for Guinas Constituency, Moses Khumub, will prioritise the development of Tsintsabis, which was declared a settlement five years ago.
Khumub pledges to prioritise the provision of housing, basic services, health care, and education.
"The regional council is currently planning the settlement by marking the erven for current and future residents. We are considering involving the Shack Dwellers Federation to ensure that low-income earners have access to land here, and our focus extends beyond just these federations to include any potential development opportunities."
Khumub said a socio-economic assessment done at the constituency indicates that there is a need to implement small agricultural plots for food-insecure households.
Currently, 4,000 people depend on government handouts, which Khumub wants to change.
"Regarding agriculture, Tsintsabis farm 180 is an independent agricultural farm with fertile soil and good underground care. So it's a lucrative area that we just need to enrich and ensure that when we look at the Swapo Party manifesto, which explicitly speaks to agriculture being an enabler of employment, it is targeted."
The community also wants the clinic upgraded with all services and transport, as well as a vocational centre.
