With the vision to boost Namibia's economy and uplift the tourism sector, Miss World Namibia 2025, Selma Kamanya, is driving "Global Namibia One" to do just that.
Kamanya, at a media conference held in the capital, stated that the recent 6-day tour by global ambassadors, global influencers and brand partners elevated the country to the world.
The initiative has contributed to the hospitality, catering, logistics, transport and creative industries.
Since the inception of Global Namibia One, 36 jobs have been created.
Kamanya says the GN1 project is further aimed at solving national issues such as unemployment as well as empowering other stakeholders to come on board and be the solution to joblessness in the country.
"Global Namibia Tourism One is a strategic international platform. It brings together global ambassadors, leaders, influencers, and people all around the world that carry influence to not just visit Namibia but to engage, to learn, to invest, to collaborate, and to advocate. This initiative was born from my own Westworld journey, where I saw firsthand how global exposure, cultural exchange, and structural collaboration can transform how countries are seen and how opportunities are created. "GN1 moves beyond traditional tourism promotion," emphasised Kamanya.
The project further targeted high-skill short-term contracts, particularly for youth-led enterprises.
She highlighted that over 80% of the GN1's budget was spent on local enterprises, ensuring maximum domestic economic stimulus.
Kamanya adds, "We also aim to open channels for economic collaboration. We want to support the creative agricultural industries. This is an industry that has ever since gotten a lot of support from our state, which I'm incredibly grateful for. I would love to continue to contribute towards this industry. We aim to strengthen diplomatic relationships, and in addition to that, we want to create youth-focused opportunity ecosystems. Most importantly, I believe that the Gen One demonstrates that Namibia can lead globally on its own terms."
The GN1 tour will be an annual event that Kamanya says will contribute immensely to the tourism sector.
