Ondobe Yeno village in the Ohangwena Region is celebrating its centenary, marking 100 years of unity, purpose, and discipline.

The historic celebration brought together villagers, descendants of Ondobe Yeno, elders, friends, and people who grew up in the village, as well as residents from surrounding areas.

Adding international significance to the occasion, visitors travelled all the way from Germany to be part of the celebrations.

The centenary served as an important platform to narrate the establishment of Ondobe Yeno village, highlighting its uniqueness and rich historical background for both present and future generations.

Elders shared stories and lessons passed down over generations, reinforcing the village’s identity and values.

Ondobe Yenov was praised for its resilience and sustained growth despite challenges commonly faced by rural communities. The village is widely respected for upholding traditional values, shunning alcohol abuse, and placing strong emphasis on Christianity, which residents say has contributed to discipline, unity, and social stability.

The Ondobe Yenov Centenary Celebration was held at the residence of Chief Mandume Kaulinge, underscoring the role of traditional leadership in preserving culture and guiding community development.
