A fisherman died along the Chobe River at Sinda in the Muyako area after being struck by lightning.
His colleague, who survived the incident, said it occurred between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m. The deceased, a 36-year-old man, and survivor Jacobo Simasiku (40) were entering the river to fish when lightning struck, killing Sitaka instantly.
Simasiku recounted seeing fire in their canoe after the strike; that's when his friend fell and died on the spot.
At the time the NBC News team arrived at the scene, police officers had not yet processed it, and more details will follow after police investigations.
