NamPower has awarded full bursaries worth N$12 million to 15 students pursuing various fields of study at local and SADC tertiary institutions.
The NamPower Bursary Scheme has been in existence for over 26 years and has invested millions in the education of hundreds of Namibians.

Many of the past beneficiaries of the scheme have taken up prominent professional and leadership positions within NamPower and in other sectors of the Namibian economy.

Kahenge Haulofu is NamPower's Managing Director, who says, "We just want to hear good stories out there. To be the ambassadors of Namibia, and first and foremost to be ambassadors of NamPower to carry our name to those institutions, whether the institutions are in Namibia or, like the others, like my brother there, going to SA. But to be the representatives of this nation, and that it is only when we will feel a return in our investment. And to be able to come back and run and own this institution, or any other national institution of the country. To contribute meaningfully to our economy."

The selected group is gender-inclusive and includes persons with disabilities.
The awarded bursaries are in the fields of accounting, law, renewable energy, mechatronics engineering, oil and gas, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and data science, among others.

"I'm currently a 2nd student doing my master's degree in sustainable energy systems. I grew up in a small village with no electricity, and I know how the lack of electricity, for example, affects education, health, and even opportunities. So this bursary means a lot to me because it will ease the financial difficulties that I've been facing during," says beneficiary Lydia Amupolo.

"I am doing my second year but still going for my degree at UNAM, and I am grateful for receiving this award bursary because not everyone got this chance," expressed grateful Karuli Kasanga.

Lucky Ndumbu adds, "I am busy studying law at UNAM, and it's going to be a good time. I am very appreciative of the bursary that I got, and hopefully I will be making a change in that maybe soon."

The bursaries were awarded to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
