President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has dismissed allegations of her family's involvement in the oil and gas sector.

"With respect to the article headlined 'President under fire for family oil interest', written by Mr. Eliaser Ndeyanale and Mr. Martin Endjala and published in The Namibian newspaper on 3 February 2026, as well as the allegations attributed to Ms. Jemima Beukes, I categorically and without reservation state that my children have no interest, direct or indirect, in the oil and gas sector," said Nandi-Ndaitwah.

The President further requested a public apology and a retraction of the statements by the journalists.

She said they could alternatively present "credible and verifiable evidence to substantiate the allegations."

President Nandi-Ndaitwah also stated that her children have full and equal rights to participate in the country's economy.

"They do so to contribute to the national development, the well-being of our people and their own lawful livelihoods," she said, adding that "we will not be faulted for exercising this right as long as it is done within the confines of the law."
