The 7th National Council held a special session today to appoint members to the Rules, Orders, and Business Committee.
The committee is expected to appoint other committees during this session. The special session will also appoint members to the Committee of Privileges.
Opening the session, National Council Chairperson Lukas Muhas said these two committees are central to the effective functioning of the National Council, ensuring proceedings are conducted in an orderly and respectful manner.
"Honourable Members, Rule 144 of the National Council Standing Rules and Orders provides for the appointment of members to the Committee on Standing Rules, Orders, and Business. Its composition consists of: a) the Chairperson of the Council, who is also Chairperson of the Committee; b) the Vice-Chairperson of the Council; c) eight additional members of the Council appointed by the Council, of which three are drawn from the minority political formation."
The members appointed are Lukas Muhas, as Chairperson of the Committee; Emma Tangi-Muteka, appointed in her capacity as Vice-Chairperson of the National Council; Tjimutambo Kuuoko, Ueutjerevi Ngunahia, Eddie Nanub, Olivia Hanghuwo, Bethuel Tjaveondja, Augusta Katembo, Hans Haikali, and Victor Maswahu.
Selection of members for committees continues until tomorrow, Wednesday.
