The Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters have expressed confidence in President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's leadership and ability in addressing key issues affecting Namibians.

During a courtesy visit, the party's Deputy President, Kalimbo Iipumbu proposed strengthening the pharmaceutical industry in Namibia so the country can produce its own medicine, as well as building and renovating health facilities.

The visit forms part of President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah's commitment to engage political parties on pertinent national issues.

While commending her leadership, NEFF wants to see more investment and strengthening of the health sector.

“We have hospitals that are falling apart, and the budget must speak to these needs. It must provide for the proper renovation of these hospitals. If you find yourself in a dirty hospital, you may not feel confident about the care you will receive. Nevertheless, when you enter a clean space, it can already change your emotions and give you confidence. We are therefore saying that the funds we appropriate must respond to the issues we have highlighted, because this sector clearly needs improvement,” Iipumbu explained.

Another is the agriculture sector, which Iipumbu said holds greater potential in job creation and harnessing the sector to reduce the volume of imports.

NEFF stressed that Namibia must develop new industries that can absorb young people entering the job market.

They argued that training young people is not enough if there are no industries to employ them and called for stronger alignment between education, skills training, and economic development.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah emphasised that consultations of this nature are important in building trust and confidence in carrying out her responsibilities as head of state.
