The Chairperson of the Oshikoto Regional Council, Sakeus Nangula, has emphasised that enhancing reporting, monitoring, and evaluation is essential for expediting and coordinating development.

Nangula was speaking at the Annual Review and Planning Workshop in Ondangwa, which started on the 13th of April.

The weeklong workshop brings together council administrative management, regional councillors, and heads of delegated functions.

Nangula says the workshop provided a platform for stakeholders to evaluate performance and develop plans aligned with the Council's five-year strategic plan and line ministries.

"There is a need for us to strengthen the reporting, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of the annual implementation of the project in the activities. You cannot monitor if you do not have information on what happened on the ground. That's why we need to improve in that area," said Nangula.

He further emphasised the need for public servants to adopt the "Business Unusual" approach, as advocated by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, urging officials to embrace innovation and improved service delivery.

On the water issue that the region has been experiencing, Oshikoto governor Sacky Kathindi says plans are in place to solve it.

"Water should be treated as a priority above all priorities. If all the plans that we have do materialise, I promise you there will be no reason for this, but we need to coordinate. We need to act in unison. We need to plan together so that we realise this dream."

Acting Chief Regional Officer Petrus Ndawedwa said the workshop also provided a platform for participants to share what is happening in their respective departments.

"This is also a platform where we are reporting to our political principles and also being informed as technocrats to know what we are busy with in our offices. It's also a platform where we are also going to receive views and inputs from our political office bearers as well, so jointly we come up with our plans."
