The 2026 Standard Bank Top 8 Cup has a new champion after Mighty Gunners came from behind to defeat UNAM FC 2-1 in the final at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek.
UNAM captain Roberto Rugam stepped up and converted from the penalty spot in the sixth minute, giving his side an early 1-nil lead.
But Mighty Gunners gradually settled into the match and found their equaliser midway through the first half.
Despite both sides searching for another breakthrough, the first half ended level after two minutes of added time, with the score at 1-1 heading into the break.
The second half saw both coaches make tactical substitutions as momentum shifted between the two teams.
However, with extra time beginning to look likely, Mighty Gunners found the winning goal.
UNAM pushed forward in search of an equaliser during four minutes of added time, but Mighty Gunners held on to secure a 2-1 victory at full time.
The result sees Mighty Gunners crowned Standard Bank Top 8 Cup champions, taking home N$600,000 in prize money, while runners-up UNAM receive N$300,000.
Meanwhile, Mighty Gunners' Mutani Kariseb was named Man of the Match following his performance and equalising goal.
Despite finishing on the losing side, UNAM captain Roberto Rugam won the Golden Boot award after scoring two goals during the tournament.
Mervin Shetukana of Mighty Gunners was named Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
The Player of the Tournament award went to Mighty Gunners' Given Mutuezu.
