President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has arrived in Tanzania for her two-day state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and reaffirming the historic ties between the two countries.
The visit comes just over a year after President Nandi-Ndaitwah's previous visit to Tanzania, during which she held discussions with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan on areas of mutual cooperation.
During the visit, President Nandi-Ndaitwah is expected to hold bilateral talks with her Tanzanian counterpart, focusing on cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, education, defence and regional integration. Several agreements are also expected to be signed.
A key highlight of the visit will be her trip to Kongwa District in the Dodoma Region, a site of historical significance in Namibia's liberation struggle.
Kongwa holds a special place in Namibia's liberation history, having hosted Namibian freedom fighters and served as one of the locations where Namibia's founding president, Sam Nujoma, and other liberation leaders operated during the struggle for independence.
The visit will, among others, honour the sacrifices of freedom fighters and Tanzania's support for Namibia's journey to independence, further cementing existing relations and solidarity the two nations share.
