Dinapama Manufacturing and Supplies has officially commissioned new digital sublimation technology and machinery, in a move expected to strengthen local manufacturing and create opportunities for Namibian businesses and young people.

The investment was made possible through collaboration with the Embassy of Namibia in China and aims to bring advanced textile printing and manufacturing capabilities closer to the local market.

The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Jenelly Matundu, says the equipment will allow Dinapama to produce high-quality, custom apparel and digitally printed textile products.

"By strengthening production, capacity, and product quality, this technology can enhance the competitiveness of our local manufacturing industry and create opportunities to expand into regional and international markets."

Matundu says the investment also demonstrates the practical value of Namibia's diplomatic relations with China.

Speaking on behalf of former ambassador of Namibia to China, Elia Kaiyamo, former commercial counsellor at the Namibian Embassy, Freddie !Gaoseb, said this milestone represents more than the installation of new equipment.

"You have made a tangible contribution to technology transfer and to the strengthening of local production capacity. Your decision to locate the capability on Namibian soil is both progressive and patriotic."

Dinapama Managing Director David Namalenga says the machinery also creates opportunities for other local businesses.

"Meaning it will create more opportunities; it will increase more locally produced products in the Namibian market. So obviously, that will mean more employment, that will mean more capacity development, that really means more innovation, that really means more opportunities for Namibian people."

Dinapama strives to continue investing in apprenticeships, skills development and the transfer of technical knowledge to young Namibians.
