Political Analyst Marius Kudumo, while weighing in on the death sentence of former President Joseph Kabila, noted that the ruling marks a first in SADC.

 Dr. Kudumo believes that such matters should be determined by an impartial and competent court of law rather than a military tribunal.

Lenin Ndebele, a Zimbabwean journalist specialising in conflict and security issues in Africa, said the death sentence given to former DRC President Joseph Kabila is recognised in the war-torn country, although carrying it out might be a challenge.
