Armstrong Properties, the developers of Hilka Park in Rundu, say a demonstration carried out by some homeowners on May 2nd has damaged their company’s reputation.

The managing member of Kuru Kaje Investments CC says the workers doing the debushing and clearing for the Andara-Shamaturu road in Mukwe, Kavango East Region, will be paid on Thursday.

This comes after 63 workers downed tools last week because the subcontractor failed to pay them for March. 

The Governor of the Kavango West Region, Verna Sinimbo, accompanied by various regional leaders, paid the Kasera family in Sarukwe village a visit following the death of two children due to suspected food poisoning.

Two children died, and two other family members are in intensive care at Rundu State Hospital after an incident of suspected food poisoning.

Police in the Kavango East Region have listened to the local residents who have been complaining about not feeling safe.

NamPol will now carry out regular patrols for the next two months.

Workers who are doing the debushing and clearing for the Andara-Shamaturu road in Mukwe, Kavango East, have stopped working after the subcontractor failed to pay them for the month of March. 

Security guards working at the construction site for the Nepara-Nkurenkuru road in the Kavango West Region will now be paid the minimum wage of N$13.50 per hour. 

Learners from various schools in Rundu, Kavango East Region, took to the streets this morning in a nationwide mass march against violence towards children. 

Kavango East is joining the rest of the regions in these marches that are aimed at creating awareness about violence against children. 

Urban and Rural Development Minister James Sankwasa has raised concerns about succession disputes within traditional authorities. 

He raised the issue during his address at the belated independence celebration at Mukwe in Kavango East over the weekend.

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, has said that he is ready to deal with local authorities that are misusing funds.

Sankwasa also ordered all ministries that owe local authorities to pay up.
