The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Natural Resources, Tobie Aupindi, has called for change in the operations of conservancies to ensure that they reach their full potential.

The Muduva Nyangana Conservancy, located in the Kavango East Region, generates about N$700,000 per annum.

This was announced during the oversight visit by the Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources.

The Muduva Nyangana Conservancy in the Kavango East Region has constructed a clinic to meet the government halfway.

Valued at N$450,000, the clinic consists of a waiting area, consultation room, toilet, bathroom, testing room and a pharmacy.

However, there is no water, electricity or staff.

The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, James Sankwasa, has stepped in to help resolve the Gciriku traditional leadership succession dispute.

The Gciriku tribe has been without a chief since 2019. 

The chieftainship of the tribe is inherited through the maternal line.

The residents of Thipanana Village in the Kavango East Region assert that they are not receiving any benefits from the rural electrification project.

The villagers claim that NamPower wrongly diverted the electrification project to another village. 

Kavango West regional leaders welcomed the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), describing it as a platform that will greatly benefit the region and its residents.

In the Kavango East Region, an amount of over N$243 million was invested in the health care programmes over the last financial year.

The funds went towards the renovation of two district hospitals, three healthcare centres, and 25 clinics and assisted in the outreach programme.

The Kavango East Region is focusing on enhancing its agriculture sector to improve the livelihood of its residents.
