Urban and Rural Development Minister James Sankwasa says all traditional authorities without chiefs are expected to have leadership in place before the end of the year, warning that unresolved disputes threaten stability and cultural cohesion within communities.

Urban and Rural Development Minister James Sankwasa is hopeful that the amendment of the Traditional Authorities and Council of Traditional Leaders Acts will address leadership disputes as well as mushrooming traditional authorities.

The disregard for customary laws by some traditional authorities has resulted in persistent leadership succession squabbles.
