Southern Namibia Hake fishing company temporary workers at Lüderitz, who were laid off two years ago, are demanding reinstatement.

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform (MAFWLR), Inge Zaamwani, visited the site earmarked for the Africa Aquaculture Company offshore salmon farming project in Lüderitz to see the progress and plans for the upcoming operations.

Lüderitz residents' under the banner of !Nami#Nus Constituency Youth Forum staged a protest march, demanding stringent action against rampant drug menace, plaguing the southern coastal town.
 

A week-long exhibition is underway in Lüderitz to celebrate women pioneers in oceanography and inspire Namibian women and girls to claim their place in ocean science.

The exhibition officially opened on Tuesday, and the public is invited to view the display at the Lüderitz Old Power Station.

The government has invested N$88 million in the 2024/2025 financial year for the second phase of development of the Luderitz Waterfront.  

The Luderitz-based Lagoon Aquaculture, founded in 2015, has grown over the years into a cross-border industry, now exporting live oysters, scallops, and rock lobsters.

Its export destination includes South Africa and Asian markets. 

A group of women in Luderitz are not only making beads for a living but are also sharing valuable lessons in life to be resilient in all circumstances.
