Mourners pay last respects to retired Colonel John Shipoke

Mourners paid their last respects to retired Colonel John Nghipangelwa Shipoke at Ondobe in the Ohangwena Region.

Shipoke died at the age of 66 on the 19th of March.

Shipoke is a freedom fighter and veteran of the liberation struggle who went into exile in 1974.

Ohangwena Region the Tanga Region, Tanzania to sign cooperation agreement

Namibia's Ohangwena Region and the Tanga Region in Tanzania are expected to sign a cooperation agreement in various areas.

The political leadership and several business representatives from Ohangwena attended an engagement as part of the Namibia-Tanzania Joint Commission on Cooperation.

Schools re-open in Ohangwena Region

About 29 schools that were closed due to flooding have been re-opened in Ohangwena Region. 

This followed the subsiding of flood waters.
The floods affected 36 schools in the region, disturbing learning for more than 17 000 learners.

The Directorate of Education, Arts, and Culture in Ohangwena Region has suspended teaching at the Onghala and Shingunguma Primary Schools as the flood waters are reportedly rising in the area.

A total of six schools have been affected by the floods.

Monday marks day four of Oimbadalunga Village flood

Today (Monday) marks the fourth day since flood waters from neighboring Angola poured in at Oimbadalunga Village in the Ohangwena Region.
