The High Court has ordered former Police Inspector General Joseph Shikongo and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security (MHAISS) to compensate social activists Michael Amushelelo and Dimbulukeni Nauyoma for their arrest, detention and prosecution.

Activist Michael Amushelelo has been fined N$5,000 or, alternatively, sentenced to six months’ imprisonment for contempt of court.

High Court Judge Anne-Doris Hans-Kaumbi will deliver her sentence to Michael Amushelelo at 12:30 today.

Earlier this morning, Hans-Kaumbi heard arguments in mitigation.
