Police in the Zambezi Region are investigating a murder linked to domestic violence in Mwemba village, Mafuta area.

Police in the Otjozondjupa Region are cautioning the public to remain vigilant against scammers who are currently targeting farmers, business people, and community members in Grootfontein.

In an effort to strengthen community relations and address ongoing safety and crime challenges, the Police Inspector General, Joseph Shikongo, launched Operation Katjavivi.

Former Justice Minister Sacky Shanghala told the Windhoek High Court that the Namibian Police continues to disregard existing court orders by transporting inmates in overloaded vehicles without safety provisions.

The Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, Lucia Iipumbu, said a Quantum bus was available for the Namibia Correctional Service officials who died in the Mariental accident on Saturday.

She said it remains unclear why the officers were transported in a vehicle reserved for inmates.

Lieutenant General Joseph Shikongo, the police chief, has released the names of the officers killed in the Mariental car crash on Saturday.

Shikongo said two sisters were among those who died.

The deceased are:

1. Senior Chief Correctional Officer David Mawis Musambani (Male)

Police have identified the officer who was gunned down at Walvis Bay on Wednesday as 34-year-old Simasiku Matongo.

A report released this evening indicated that Matongo was murdered in cold blood by a suspected criminal, Jacques Pienaar.

Okahandja Police Station has a new commander, Tjarimba Mathais. This follows the retirement of David Scott, who served the community in that post for the past three years.

Mathias served in the police for 18 years. 

Kavango West Region's regional leaders and the police have called for community collaboration in addressing crime and in accelerating development across the region.

The Namibian police are investigating three separate incidents of attempted murder reported over the weekend.

An 18-month-old baby girl was injured after she was thrown from a moving vehicle about 25 km outside Outjo, en route to Kalkfeld.
