Four people have died in a car accident along the Omaruru-Karibib road, following a collision with a truck

The accident occurred about 20 kilometers from Karibib towards Omaruru.

Just over three months after a horrific incident on the road between the Hardap Dam and Mariental, which claimed 16 lives, those involved and affected by the road crash still find it difficult to come to terms.

Namibia has recorded 448 road fatalities from January to November. This is an increase from last year's 376 crashes, which are said to be caused mainly by speeding.

Kavango West Region has recorded 19 road fatalities this year.

Road crashes also increased by 115 cases, compared to last year.

In 2025, Kavango West recorded a total number of 307 crashes involving 332 vehicles.

One hundred and thirty-two people sustained serious to slight injuries.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund, Rosalia Martins-Hausiku, has called for immediate action to stop the bloodshed on the country's roads.

She revealed that this year, Namibia's road deaths have increased by 12%, a trend which she described as worrying.

Namibia has recorded a sharp increase in road-related deaths and crashes this year, according to the latest year-to-date crash statistics released today.

The figures were released today by NamPol's Head of Traffic Law Enforcement, Commissioner Petrus Swartz.

Two of the six people struck by lightning on Friday in separate incidents in the Zambezi Region have died.

In the first occurrence, lightning struck two Zambian nationals along the Liselo-Linyanti Road. 

Four people died in a head-on collision between a polo sedan and a seven-seater on the B1 road between Otjiwarongo and Otavi in the early hours of this morning.

The Erongo Region recorded a 15% increase in road crashes and a 6% decrease in fatalities from January to November this year.

This was revealed by Police Regional Commander, Nickolas Kupembona, during the official opening of the Swakopmund roadblock for the festive season.

The Omaruru Constituency Youth Forum held a basic first aid workshop to reduce the number of fatalities in various types of incidents such as house fires, motor vehicle accidents, and domestic violence in the community.
