Farmers at the Hardap Irrigation Scheme have asked NamWater to restore water supply to their irrigation fields, as the Hardap Dam received water inflow following rains in its catchment areas.

NamWater suspended water supply to the farmer's irrigation plots at the end of October last year when the Hardap Dam reached critically low water levels caused by drought conditions.

Scheme Farmers Association Chairperson Dawie De Klerk expressed optimism that if the water supply is restored, irrigation farmers would re-employ workers who had been laid off.
