President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has appointed Inge Zaamwaani as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Management.

Dr. Nandi-Ndaitwah made the announcement at State House today.

Zaamwaani's appointment to the ministerial portfolio follows her appointment to and subsequent swearing-in as a non-voting member of the National Assembly earlier on.

President Nandi-Ndaitwah describes the ministerial portfolio as one that is critical to the development of the country and requires someone who is committed to implementing programmes in that regard.

The President stated that the expectations are clearly referenced in the Swapo Party Manifesto and its Implementation Plan as guiding documents for the new minister.

Zaamwani replaces Mac-Albert Hengari, who was on President Nandi-Ndaitwah's nomination list to the National Assembly and appointed to the portfolio on March 22.

Hengari was relieved of his duties following his arrest over allegations of bribery and is facing other charges.

Zaamwani served as Advisor on Constitutional Affairs and Private Sector Interface in the Presidency, until her appointment to the National Assembly and as Cabinet Minister.
