The Ministry of Works and Transport is undertaking the construction of the Okatana-Amutanga-Omulathitu-Onamime gravel road.

The gravel road will enable surrounding communities access to health care services and education facilities, especially during the rainy season.

The construction of DR-4103 will enable the community of Amutanga, Omulathitu, Onanime, Iikelo A and B villages, Onambambi and Oshikondilongo villages that have been experiencing difficulties accessing education facilities during the rainy season.

The road is usually submerged during the rainy season, making it hard to access the Amutanga growth centre. because it is located between water streams.

"Progress on this road, Amutanga, Okatana-Omulathitu-Onanime, is about 60%. Even though we have experienced challenges of floods, floods that made it impossible to continue constructing the road. So far, the progress is good. We want to thank the regional council, the government, and the Ministry of Works and Transport, who made funds available so that we can construct this road and enable the community of those surrounding villages to access services like education and health. This road is really helping the community to access the services," said Okatana Constituency Councillor Edmund Iishuwa.

The construction of District Road-4103 started mid-September last year after the route was demined by the police, and it is anticipated to be completed this month.

Phase one of the road, which is 6.8 kilometres long, will cost N$10.4 million.
