Members of the 8th parliament are gathered at Swakopmund for a one-week induction and orientation seminar.
The induction is an opportunity for the members of parliament to gain knowledge about procedures, responsibilities, standing rules, and orders, among others.
Deputy Speaker Phillipus Katamelo said the weeklong seminar will be assisted by experts in different topics to enable the parliamentarians to do their work smoothly.
The parliamentarians will cover topics including bill formulation, how to draft and read legislation, revenue mobilisation, protocols, diplomacy, and etiquette.
"Therefore, ensuring a stable political disbursement and a responsive system of government depends on an efficient, effective and cohesive parliament. Through this seminar, we are confident that we will continue to support the government in improving the credibility and predictability, control and transparency in its management."
Erongo Governor Neville Andre reminded the members that parliament is not only a forum for political dialogue but an engine room for the laws that guide national development.
"Your work and the laws you create must bring hope to every citizen feeling left out in the country. Therefore, your seat in parliament must create a positive change in someone's life in the remotest place in Namibia. They must reflect the will of the people while upholding the principles of justice, equity, and accountability."
The first induction for the Members of the 8th parliament was held in March.
