The United Namibians Party (UNP) welcomed 34 new members at Mazwa Village in Kavango West’s Musese Constituency.

The party’s Vice Chief Servant, Alfons Hausiku, says he did not expect the turnout, especially since some of the new members defected from other political parties.

The UNP was formed two years ago in the Kavango regions but only received their certificate from the ECN on 26 August 2024.

Hausiku says even though they could not participate in last year’s elections, the party is ready to contest in the upcoming regional council elections.

The party says it aims to unite and to be a voice for Namibians with limited economic resources, adding that there is strength in unity.

Hausiku says even though they could not participate in last year’s elections, the party is ready to contest in the upcoming regional council elections.

Hausiku also spoke about the agricultural potential in the Kavango Regions and said UNP will encourage locals to produce their own food instead of relying on drought relief.
