Otjozondjupa Regional Police Commander Philip Hidengwa has confirmed the arrest of the farm owner, where an illegal dagga plantation and factory were uncovered yesterday between Osire Refugee Settlement and Hochfeld.

The suspect, aged 43, now joins two other accomplices: a 27-year-old farm manager and a driver who was transporting the drugs.

They have been charged with dealing in cannabis and possession of cannabis.

The illegal plantation and factory were uncovered after a car was stopped and searched at the Okahandja-Hochfeld roadblock, where 52 large sachets were found in the early hours of yesterday.

This led the police to the farm, where an illegal plantation measuring 1.55 hectares was found, including a mini factory where harvesting, weighing, and packaging take place.

Hidengwa said deliberations are now underway on whether to destroy the plantation using chemicals or a grader.

The value of the dagga and the project has not yet been determined.
