In preparation for the Regional By-Election for the Otjiwarongo constituency councilor, set to take place this month, the Swapo Party convened in Kalfeld to encourage residents to vote for Paulus Nekundi as their candidate.
The by-election, scheduled for June 17, was necessitated by the resignation of Marlayn Mbakera, who stepped down from her position as constituency councilor after becoming a member of Parliament in March.
This by-election will determine the new constituency councilor for Otjiwarongo.
In his campaign speech, Paulus Nekundi emphasized that the Swapo Party has been making positive changes to improve community livelihoods, including the construction of toilets in Kalfeld, with more initiatives to come.
He stated that the party has heard the community's concerns and is committed to fulfilling its manifesto.
Efraim Nekongo, Secretary of the SWAPO Party Youth League, urged residents of Kalfeld and Otjiwarongo to vote for Nekundi, highlighting his contributions to the community as a businessman.
He asserted that electing Nekundi would ensure the implementation of the Swapo Party’s manifesto in the Otjiwarongo district
and assured residents that all promised initiatives would be addressed if they support Nekundi.
Swapo MP Alexia Manombe-Ncube expressed confidence in Nekundi as the right candidate for the Otjiwarongo constituency, citing his potential to bring about positive changes in youth employment, health, and other community issues.
She emphasized that Nekundi is a leader who listens to the community's needs.
This by-election features four candidates from different political parties, as announced by the Electoral Commission of Namibia: Paulus Nekundi from the SWAPO Party, Wilbardt Haihambo from the Independent Patriots for Change, Gabriel Manase from the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters, and Ernst Muraranganda from the Popular Democratic Movement.
