Long-serving councillor at the Henties Bay Municipality, Michael Skini, will not be contesting in the upcoming local authority elections.

Councillor Michael Skini announced his decision to step down when he delivered the municipality's budget for the 2025/26 financial year.

Skini served the Henties Bay Municipal Council for over 14 years and has been a long-serving chairperson of the Management Committee.

He is the current Deputy Mayor, a position he stepped into in 2024.

"I did my part, and now it is time to step down and make way for new energy and new ideas. I do so with peace in my heart and pride in what we have achieved together. To the aspiring and incoming councillors, let this budget not just be a financial document but a symbol of continuity and faith in the future."

Skini is a senior member of the United Democratic Front, where he has served in positions that include Youth League Secretary General.
