Rehoboth officially secured a spot as a finalist in the 2025 kykNET Kwêla as Town of the Year.
This major milestone sparked celebrations and pride across the community.
The competition honours towns across South Africa and Namibia with populations under 500,000 that are known for their rich Afrikaans culture, unique charm, and vibrant community spirit.
The announcement was made live on kykNET, with Rehoboth residents gathering in excitement to witness their town's moment of recognition.
Community leaders are now calling on all Namibians to cast their votes via SMS and help bring the title home.
One of the key sites that the town was nominated for was the Klipkraal, which is more than a century old.
The stakes are high: the winning town will receive ZAR/N$1 million from Lottoland to support local development, an additional ZAR/N$1 million in nationwide publicity across DStv, and a ZAR/N$250,000 Makietie celebration party.
According to the community elders, Rehoboth's inclusion is not just a win for the town; it's a win for the nation.
If victorious, Rehoboth would join Henties Bay and Swakopmund as the only towns in Namibia to win the prestigious title in 2016 and 2019, respectively.
In preparation for the finals, the Rehoboth Town Council, in collaboration with the Junior Town Council, hosted the Kwêla production team, taking them on a tour of the Edenberry Strawberry Farm and the "I love Rehoboth" landmark and showcasing community-driven projects like a local tree-planting initiative.
The winner will be announced on the 3rd of August.
