In the early hours of this morning, a major drug bust unfolded in Miems Street, Khomasdal, following an intelligence-led police operation.
At approximately 00:43 AM, law enforcement officers conducted a sting operation at a private residence, leading to the arrest of a 24-year-old Namibian male. The suspect was found in possession of 18,570 grams of compressed cannabis, neatly packaged into 18 parcels.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is N$929,000, making this one of the largest single cannabis seizures in the area this year.
The suspect has been formally charged under Section 2(A) of the Abuse of Dependence-Producing Substances and Rehabilitation Centres Act, Act 41 of 1971.
Deputy Commissioner Shikwambi, when spoken to by NBC, has confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and further arrests have not been ruled out.
