Former President Hifikepunye Pohamba has called on Ohangwena Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa to remain steadfast and resolute in her leadership, urging her to become a force for positive transformation in the region.

Hamutumwa paid a courtesy call on the 89-year-old former statesman at his home in Okaghudi Village.

Pohamba emphasised the urgent need to address key developmental challenges, particularly poor roads and water infrastructure in remote rural communities.

He issued a strong warning against corruption, urging the governor and other national leaders to refrain from stealing or misusing public resources.

Pohamba noted that corruption undermines essential development efforts and perpetuates poverty and hopelessness among Namibians.

Governor Hamutumwa described the engagement with the former president as part of a broader strategic initiative to consult stakeholders across the region, including traditional leaders, to gather insights and foster collaboration.

She reaffirmed her commitment to work in unity with community leaders and residents under the guiding slogan '#ByUsForUs', which promotes local ownership and participation in regional development.

Hamutumwa has already engaged with the Oukwanyama and Ondonga Traditional Authorities and is next scheduled to visit the Uukwambi Traditional Authority.

Her regional outreach continues with more visits to all 12 constituencies in the region.
