Over 80 aspiring film-enthusiastic youths from the Oshana and Omusati regions are attending a four-day workshop on the art and science of narrative movie-making at Oshakati.
The script-to-screen workshop under the auspices of Kino Namibia is a film initiative of the Namibia Film Commission that aims to transfer commercial film production skills and empower the youth to produce a 48-hour film production challenge.
The challenge will premiere on the 10th of August, after which the two best films will each be awarded N$50,000 by the Film Commission to produce another film.
Kino Namibia's objective seeks to address the skills gap that hinders the quality production of local content among filmmakers.
The training uncovered and polished raw talent in acting, lighting, sound, scriptwriting and directing of photography, amongst others.
The workshop ends this Sunday.
