Namibia, through its Green Hydrogen Programme, participated in a policy forum on strengthening the green hydrogen value chain in Seoul, South Korea, on Monday. The forum was held at the National Assembly Experience Centre and co-hosted by the National Assembly of South Korea and the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province.

The event brought together lawmakers, government officials, industry leaders, and international partners to discuss strategies for developing the hydrogen ecosystem, international cooperation, and global market competitiveness.

The Korea Hydrogen Alliance supported the forum. Keynote speeches addressed Korea's hydrogen industry development and international cooperation strategies, Africa's potential role in hydrogen, and global business opportunities in the sector.

Jona Musheko, Manager of External Affairs and Communications at the Namibia Green Hydrogen Programme, presented Namibia’s green hydrogen overview and potential opportunities.

"I came to give a brief presentation about Namibia and what we are doing in Namibia in regard to green hydrogen. South Korea is one of the countries that is quite ahead with practical and pragmatic implementation of green hydrogen, from production to end-user. Here in South Korea we see the full manifestation of green hydrogen, the full manifestation in terms of storage, production, and safety, and all the standards are implemented here in South Korea, most especially in the province of Jeju. So we came here to tell them what we are doing in Namibia and also for them to see the potential cooperation between South Korea and Namibia in this area of green hydrogen. So this presentation was made to members of parliament and business members, as well as leaders and heads of industries from different sectors that obviously have an interest in green hydrogen."

The forum concluded with a joint commitment by the National Assembly, Jeju Island, and partner institutions to strengthen policy and institutional support for hydrogen development.
