Cabinet has approved the inclusion of 35 additional countries to the list of countries eligible for Visa on Arrival.

An administration fee of N$400 for a manually submitted Visa on Arrival application was also approved.

Emma Theofelus, the Minister of Information and Communication Technology, announced these Cabinet decisions.

The countries include Barbados, the Bahamas, Haiti, Sweden, Mongolia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Monaco, among others.

Additionally, Cabinet approved the standing authority for the Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security to reciprocate visa exemptions extended to Namibia in consultation with the Ministry of International Relations and Trade, subject to the legal opinion of the Attorney-General.

Cabinet also agreed that the holders of diplomatic passports from Haiti be granted full visa exemption, in line with standard diplomatic practice and in line with Haiti's treatment of Namibian counterparts.

However, an ordinary passport from Haiti remains eligible for a visa on arrival and is exempt from visa fees.

Therefore, Cabinet directed Offices, Ministries, Agencies and stakeholders directly involved to finalise a comprehensive, costed implementation plan detailing short- to medium-term improvements that are to be undertaken at Hosea Kutako International Airport.

Cabinet further endorsed Namibia's hosting of the 2nd Global Africa Hydrogen Summit from 9 to 11 September.

The forum would consolidate Namibia's global leadership in green hydrogen and enhance the country's visibility as a model of green industrialisation.
