A taxi driver shot and killed a street vendor at the Okarundu four-way, also known as the Otjikaendu four-way in Windhoek last night.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim and two other men were looking for a taxi when an altercation broke out with the driver. Fearing robbery, the taxi driver panicked and fired two shots, one at close range, instantly killing the victim.

The driver initially attempted to flee the scene but returned shortly thereafter. Onlookers alerted the police, who arrived with emergency medical services. The two men who were with the victim were arrested, while the taxi driver remained at the scene and was being questioned as investigations continue.
