The Swapo Party launched its 2025 Regional Councils and Local Authority Elections campaign at the Kuisebmond stadium in Walvis Bay.
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah used the occasion to call for unity, accountability, and stronger local service delivery.
Large gatherings filled the Kuisebmond Stadium as Swapo Party President Nandi-Ndaitwah launched the party's election campaign, which she described as the final step in completing Namibia's democratic structure under the 8th Administration.
The campaign was launched under the theme "Unity in Diversity: Natural Resource Beneficiation and Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Development''.
Nandi-Ndaitwah reaffirmed the party's commitment to inclusive growth and youth participation.
She highlighted achievements under her administration, including the implementation of the Sixth National Development Plan, the creation of the National Youth Fund, direct procurement savings in the health sector, and progress in housing and tertiary education reforms.
"I am therefore calling on all Namibians to go out in large numbers on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, and give the Swapo Party a decisive mandate with a strong majority in all 121 constituencies and 59 local authorities. Through your votes, the Swapo Party will be empowered to accelerate development and deliver the quality services expected by the people of Namibia, the Land of the Brave. Comrades, the Swapo Party is the political party with a proven track record, tested leadership, and a clear vision for Namibia's future. Our 2025-2030 Elections Manifesto commits us to putting people at the centre of development, ensuring that natural resources benefit our communities, and building an empowered generation of young leaders who are empowered to carry our nation forward."
She also called for unity across all communities, warning against tribalism and racism, and reminding party members that public trust must be earned through honesty, transparency, and results.
"To all our regional council and local authority candidates, remember, the people's trust is not a privilege for power. It is a revered responsibility. It demands accelerated action, honesty, transparency, accountability, and tangible results. 1020. The Swapo Party must lead by example in delivering without excuses and without delay. As the African proverb reminds us: "If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."
The party also welcomed former members of PDM and IPC into its fold.
