The Association of the Dependents of Namibia's Veterans (AODNDV) is calling on the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs to respond to a petition they submitted on August 29th of this year.
Despite the ministry's promise to respond within 14 working days, the association has yet to receive a written response.
The ministry later convened a meeting on 19 September 2025, promising them a written response.
The association says this hasn't happened; the Attorney General is still reviewing the proposed amendment.
In the petition, the association is asking the ministry to amend the Veterans Act to allow dependents of living or deceased war veterans, especially those born in exile or who joined the war as minors, to benefit from the Veterans Fund.
Reading the petition for the second time on behalf of the group was its Secretary General, Petrus Nendongo, who said that the delay is inconveniencing them, as they have been waiting for more than 35 years for recognition and support.
The Deputy Executive Director in the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Thaddeus Erago, received the petition.
The group gave the ministry five days to respond to their plea.
