The Cuban Embassy marked the ninth anniversary of the death of the late leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, by placing a wreath on Fidel Castro Street in Windhoek.

Cuba's Ambassador to Namibia, Sergio Luis Vigoa de la Uz, reflected on the contributions made by the late Founding President Sam Nujoma at the event and delved into the relationship between Cuba, Africa, and Namibia.

"I'm sure that this friendship, this brotherhood that we have between our countries, has been strengthening year by year, day by day, because it's just forever, but we have already been structured all of those years. It's just because we are only one country, one heart, one country."

De La Uz stressed that Cuba continues to support Namibia in its development efforts.

"The ideas of the commander-in-chief to work with Namibia to help Namibians after the independence. We worked together before independence and share common values, but we also collaborate to build a better country for young Namibians. That's the commitment we have with you. This reflects our commitment to the future of both Namibia and Cuba.

The general secretary of the Namibia-Cuba Friendship Association, Cecilia Muzila, highlighted that the friendship between Namibia and Cuba was born during Namibia's struggle for its independence.

"We are here to forge the friendship that was brought by Fidel and the Dromas. We will always remember the comandante, who had been a person who had been in the front fighting for the whole of humanity, who some of us benefited from the idea of solidarity."
